SPITR-verse
Calculus helps us understand change and add up tiny pieces.
Calculus helps us understand change and add up tiny pieces. It can measure the area beneath a curvy line—and two mathematicians, Newton and Leibniz, developed calculus independently in the 1600s!
Those tiny slices help measure area; calculus also tracks change. A bike’s changing distance tells us its speed at one exact moment—that’s what a derivative measures. Tiny math, big zoomies!
A derivative checks change at one moment; an integral adds tiny changes into a total. Here, calculus can track water flowing into a tank—and “calculus” comes from a Latin word for a small pebble!
