The Pirate Penguins

Three penguin pirates sail off to find a treasure no one expected.

Story words

Three penguin pirates, one old bathtub, and a whole wide sea—would their little ship be enough? WHOOSH went the chilly wind as they launched from the ice shelf. “Anchors up!” called Captain Flip, ready for the greatest treasure hunt of their lives. But with so much sea ahead, where would they begin?

CRINKLE, CRACKLE—Flip unrolled a map, and there it was: a big red X! “The Golden Fish!” he cried, because this was no ordinary treasure—it was a legend. But an X on paper was one thing; finding that spot somewhere across the sea was another. How would three little pirates ever get there?

SPLAAASH—a huge humpback whale rose beside their bathtub, making the three pirates seem smaller than ever! “Oh, my flippers,” whispered Flip as a deep, rumbly song rolled around them. Underwater, humpback songs can travel for many miles—what a mighty sound from their enormous visitor. But could this unexpected stranger help them find the Golden Fish?

Their whale guide led them to a tiny island, where the pirates found a chest beneath the sand. “The Golden Fish!” cheered Flip as they discovered the treasure inside—but it wasn't a fish to catch. It was a golden fish-shaped compass, a treasure that could help them find their way! Now, could it help them get home?

The compass needle pointed toward home, and now the pirates knew which way to go. SPLISH, SWOOSH—their new whale friend gave all three a ride, a grand homecoming for a tiny bathtub crew. “The best treasure is a new friend,” said Captain Flip. They had sailed away looking for gold and found someone to share the journey.
