This week’s Torah portion is Beha’alotcha.

Story words

This week’s Torah portion is Beha’alotcha. It opens with Aaron lighting the golden menorah, whose seven lamps shine in the sanctuary—a very fancy night-light, with a lot more meaning!

After the menorah instructions, the Torah turns to the Levites, who prepare for their special service by washing their clothes. They’re getting ready for an important job—not a laundry contest, though that basin is working overtime!

Once the Levites were ready, the Torah tells about people who missed Passover because they were unable to take part. They get another chance a month later—Passover has a very thoughtful make-up day!
